The past few months have been filled with fun sessions of close family and friends. This adorable newborn session features my beautiful cousin and her second baby Emery (along with some pretty cute photos with her bright-eyed older brother).
As a newborn photographer, I specialize in natural lifestyle photos. Newborns are cute enough as they are, so I enjoy capturing them in poses that come naturally to them: the outstretched arms, little froggy legs, baby reflexes, and curled hands. Don’t get me wrong, I love whimsical newborn props and themes, too! But since the newborn stage flies by in the blink of an eye, I find those unique newborn quirks irresistible. Capturing mom and baby in their element is what I do best.
This little one looked so beautiful as soft sunlight shone on her face. Emery slept soundly through most of the session, happy to be in her mother’s arms. The delicate knit bonnet and simple headband were the perfect accents for this petite girl. My heart melted when she turned her head toward her mom’s voice – she already recognizes her family and feels comforted by their familiar sounds.
Big brother is a hoot and full of energy, but he’s already starting to grasp the significance of his older sibling role. He was so gentle and sweet to his new baby sister during the session, but I can tell that he is eager for her to grow and become his playmate. I’m sure they will get into all sorts of trouble over the next few years. I can’t wait to watch their friendship grow. After watching my own two kids – who are just a bit older – I can say that one of the greatest pleasures of parenting is watching your kids play together in the sweet moments.
I couldn’t be happier for my cousin and their family – congratulations on their beautiful baby girl!
