The time has come and your sweet new bundle has arrived. This time is so fleeting, so it is my job to document those first new moments with you and your new baby.
First thing- it is time to decide if you want to do an in-studio newborn session or a lifestyle session in your home. In studio sessions focus on baby for most of the session and we will incorporate full family shots right at the end. Lifestyle sessions typically are the opposite, where the session takes place in your home and the focus is mostly on your family with a few of just baby. No props or set ups will be brought to your home if you choose a lifestyle.
Wardrobe. Wardrobe. Wardrobe. Yes. It does matter. Which is why I have hand picked some staple pieces for you wear if you would like to look through those! If not, I totally get that!
I typically book up 4-6 weeks in advance and I only take a select amount of sessions per month. So it is best to let me know as soon as you are ready to book with me!
Please see the below FAQs for Newborn Photography here in North Houston:
When is the best time to do my newborn portraits? For studio sessions, the optimal time is between 4-10 days on up to 14 days. For lifestyle, I like to do those within the first 21 days of life.
How long do newborn photoshoots last? These sessions last anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours, depending on the temperament of your child.
Do you have blankets, headbands, bonnets and props or should I bring my own? My style is simple, organic, and natural. I use minimal props but I do have a selection of neutral wraps, tie backs and bonnets. I believe that colors and patterns date your images which is why I lean more towards a more simple style of imagery.
Can I bring some props of my own? Sure! I do suggest sending pictures of those props to me beforehand such that we can incorporate those into our workflow and to see if it is possible to do them.
What happens if my baby gets hungry during the session? We feed them! I allot up to 3 hours for each newborn session, so if your child needs to eat, there will be plenty of time to do so.
Is it really hot in your studio during newborn pictures? It may be a tad warmer in my studio that what you are comfortable with (77-80 degrees, but that is typically closer to where baby is.It is important that you dress comfortable and cool during our time together.
Being a new mom is tough. I am late everywhere. What happens if I am late to the photoshoot? Time is of the essence and we prepare up to 3 hours for your shoot. If you are late, the time will start at the scheduled start time. I understand that being a mother is hard which is why we allot so much time for these sessions, so do not stress if you are running just a few minutes late. If you are over 30 minutes late, we may not be able to get in as many sets but we will do our best!
I have some pins on my Pinterest page that I’d like to do. Are you ok with that? Because each photographer has their own style and own ideas, it is really important to love their pictures before you book. I like to take that principle to all of my sessions. With that being said, I am not opposed to incorporating similar ideas in your gallery, but I do think it is only fair to let you know that the likelihood of them being exact is slim. I also only attempt certain poses 3x with a newborn and will move on if your baby does not seem to be comfortable in any certain pose.
How long will it take until I can see my pictures? My turnaround time is typically 3-4 weeks.
How do I order prints and products? Prints and products can be ordered through me. If you got a package with a print release on your digital images, you can order from anywhere you’d like!
